Since the location of Germanna was discovered, much archaeological work has taken place to uncover the remains of this frontier outpost. Most excavation has been done on the site of the Enchanted Castle itself, but some tests have been done on both Fort Germanna and the prehistoric remains of Germanna. While much of the site has yet to the excavated, the parts that have yield important information about Spotswood, Germanna and life on the frontier.
